About Us
Who are we?
Erith
Operatic Society is a small friendly Amateur Operatic Society based
in Erith in the London Borough of Bexley and we
perform one show a year. We specialise in light operettas with
a strong chorus element - shows with plenty of humour and rousing
choruses full of good singable tunes. Over recent years these have
included shows by Gilbert and Sullivan (eg Pirates of Penzance,
Yeomen of the Guard), Offenbach (Orpheus in the Underworld, La Vie
Parisienne) and Strauss (Die Fledermaus).
We perform at
Erith Playhouse and the emphasis is on enjoyment, both for our
audience and ourselves.
I like
Singing
We rehearse at St
Paulinus Church Hall in Crayford on a Thursday once a week from the
first Thursday in September until our show (which is usually around
April). We start promptly at 8pm and finish at 10pm. Closer to the
show additional rehearsals are organised.
We also hold
several social functions throughout the year, events such as
quizzes, barbeques, theatre trips.
If you enjoy
singing and would like to join, please contact our Membership
Secretary. Alternatively, just turn up to one of our rehearsals
and introduce yourself to anybody as a potential new member and we
will make sure you receive a good welcome.

I'd like
to help but don't want to be on stage
Like any group,
there are always lots of jobs to do that don't involve being on
stage - helping with costumes, props, set building and painting
etc. If you would like to get involved, contact our Production
Coordinator.
